Duncan Kerr Residence

This is a 3,200 square foot single story hillside residence with an extensive sod roof that blends it into the landscape. One apparently descends below ground through concrete walls to enter the house, which opens up to views across a small wooded valley to the hills beyond. A concrete retaining wall becomes a backdrop to a lap pool, while a tilted structural steel frame frees up a wall of glass towards the view. Smooth troweled plaster and plate steel forms punctuate the residence. The floor is polished concrete and the ceiling is exposed wood framing.
